Bookkeeper (Remote)

Wanted: Part-time Bookkeeper

Powered by Search is expanding our finance and accounting team to accommodate the needs of our growing client base. We are currently looking for a competent and personable remote bookkeeper with high attention-to-detail, and experience working with clients in a Marketing Services environment. 

Are you passionate about numbers and diving into financial data? Are you someone who pays attention to the details?


  • At least 3+ years of experience working with Quickbooks Online at an intermediate to advanced level
  • Experience working in coordination with outsourced accountants.
  • Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable management.
  • Experience working with multiple currencies. We bill in USD and CAD.
  • Knowledgeable with SFAS rules
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly comfortable working in Microsoft Office and Google Suite software programs.
  • Openness to accept new tasks.

The Opportunity

The mission of the Bookkeeper is to support and protect the VP of Operations to achieve accurate financial reporting and ensure that our accounts are up to date on a weekly basis.

This role demands an individual with exceptional organizational, communication, interpersonal qualities. This means:

  • The ability to set, communicate, and regularly manage expectations with the accounting team.
  • The ability to analyze information and deal with some financial complexities for currencies and expense reports. 
  • The ability to plan, organize and execute multiple tasks in a timely and transparent manner.

This individual is responsible for a portfolio of client accounts, including aspects of strategy, planning, client management, optimization, and reporting. This means:

  • On a weekly basis:
    • Setup and ensure recurring invoices for all customers 
    • Record payments and bills in QBO 
    • Update invoices and payment stubs in Hubdoc
    • Process and record payments to vendors
    • Record prepaid expenses or deferred revenues if any
    • Reconcile all bank & credit card accounts
    • Manage payroll journal entries
  • On a monthly basis:
    •  Create and provide reports and updates to the VP of Operations, Controller, and Tax Accountant so they are informed about the following:
    • Balance Sheet Accounts
    • P & L Accounts 
    • HST Updates

Expected Outcomes

Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain healthy, accurate, and up-to-date company bookkeeping by ensuring timely AR & AP Management in Quickbooks and bank deposits.
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Respond to all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
  • Monitor and follow-up on accounts past due, delayed, collect, and allocate payments and update QBO.
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
